IT’S GONNA GET BETTER
On October 16, 2020 my father passed away from COVID-19 complications. I decided to turn my pain, grief, and sorrow into something that had meaning and purpose.
“It’s Gonna Get Better” was the title of one of our favorite songs by the band Genesis, so when I found an old cassette tape of his and saw the song written in his handwriting, it struck me that I had found a message with meaning not just for me but for many people struggling through this difficult time.
I took his handwriting and was able to digitize it and have it embroidered across the chest of each sweatshirt; on one sleeve of every shirt I added a small yellow heart which is the universal symbol for all the lives lost to COVID-19. "It's Gonna Get Better" is a simple phrase that reminds me of my father's joy and optimism, and I hope it brings as much comfort to others as it has to me.

I was able to offer a way for others to memorialize their loved ones by having an option for them to send in handwriting. After digitization, I embroidered the handwriting on the sleeve of each sweatshirt, providing tangible comfort and sentiment.
It’s Gonna Get Better allowed me to connect with people all over the world. IGGB is supported internationally in: Russia, Germany, Jordan, Ireland, and across North America
